Greetings~ It's Apple Week! Literacy and Math will have an Apple focus this week. We will read information texts about Apples and use Apple materials in Math. We are working on counting and cardinality. This standard involves rote counting as well as developing grouping and counting strategies. For ex., knowing groups of five and counting by fives/tens. This sets our foundation for adding and subtracting. Our Science topic is investigating properties and what happens when properties change (ie. ice melting, apples cooking, etc)
Please join our Bloomz group as that is where you will find updates and pictures.
PS~Our classroom is almost ready for the new year. Here are some photos of what it looks like right now :)

Annually, our School Health Dental Hygienist looks for healthy smiles by providing kindergarten dental screenings. Please refer to the WCPSS student/parent handbook. Good dental health is important to a student’s overall well-being and affects a child’s success and performance in the classroom.
Hygienists use a flashlight to provide a quick visual screening of the student’s teeth.
A letter with the screening results will be sent in student’s school folderONLYif your child has questionable or obvious dental needs.
If you have any questions, please contact the school’s dental hygienist, Marla Jasperse, RDH, at 919-621-2480 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Our K team presented "Building Math Minds" during the 2017-2018 school year for our parents. We hope that it will also help you understand the foundation of Math in Kindergarten. It is possible that we will share this presentation again this year. If you have any questions, please let me know.
